This house believes debating is a vital part of our enrichment programme at Harrow Bangkok and is fun.

The Sixth Form Debating Society is a student run activity organised and chaired by Year 12 and Year 13 students who have an interest and passion in developing everyone’s ability to formulate a reasoned argument and present a speech publicly. The debates take place monthly during Monday lunchtimes and are a popular feature in the Sixth Form calendar for students and staff.

Topics are varied, ranging from the philosophical to relaxed and simply entertaining. Recently there has been heated debate on whether Obama should be given a second term to the moral consideration of the place of monogamy within modern society.

Each year the Sixth Form Debate team take on the Prep school students in an exciting showcase debate; the winner of the event holds the “Malala Yousafzai” Trophy, named after the brave Pakistani school girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban on her way to school in 2012 as she protested on the right to education for girls.
