All members of the Sixth Form team support students through their research and applications to university. This process starts during the Year 10 and Year 11 careers programme and continues with timetabled careers lessons for students in Year 12 and Year 13.
The Harrow Careers Programme includes a comprehensive structure over two years, focusing on research and developing skills in Year 12 and application support in Year 13. We support:
- Developing CVs
- Researching university courses, universities and countries
- Research skills and developing a personal statement/personal essays
- Lateral thinking skills and developing the students individual skill set
- Preparing for interviews and developing communication skills
- Making the right choices
The Sixth Form Team have an open door policy and students are free to come and discuss university choices and seek advice at any time. All students receive a one-to-one careers interview in term 2 of Year 12, where they have an opportunity to meet with one of the university advisors to formulate their individual action plan. Drop in clinics are offered throughout the year for Sixth Form students to receive individual help on making university choices, writing personal statements and personal essays. We are confident the support and advice we give every student in our Sixth Form is personal and meets their individual needs, without the need to seek help elsewhere.
Our Sixth Form students choose to apply to, and study at highly competitive universities worldwide, and we offer advice and extensive individual support on all major destinations from the UK, Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
We feel it is also useful to see the course profiles of our alumni students. This may help to guide student option choices and pathways for the future.
