At HIS we have over 100 students in the Sixth Form doing a variety of AS and A level subjects including Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Modern Languages, Psychology, Business and Economics and ICT. The British A level curriculum is followed at Harrow, allowing our students access to Higher Education courses in a range of countries. Many go on to degree courses at some of the world’s best universities, mostly in the UK, Canada and the USA. Amongst those who left Harrow in 2008, four students are now at Imperial College, London, two at UCL, two at Bristol, one at Cambridge and three at the University of British Columbia, Canada’s finest.
At HIS we try to create leaders, promoting a broad educational experience. Sixth Form students are encouraged to support House activities by taking leading roles, helping to organise after school activities, expeditions and be actively involved in a range of events. The pastoral system remains focussed on the House system to allow for continuity of care but with a programme designed to challenge each student and guide them through Higher Education applications. We welcome many visiting speakers on a range of academic and ethical issues and have a lively Debating Society. The Prefect system gives the opportunity for older students to become models for younger ones and lead by example. A mix of many different nationalities promotes inclusive behaviour and an understanding of diverse cultures. The atmosphere between staff and pupils is friendly and supportive, whilst encouraging a strong code of conduct and an expectation to strive for excellence.
University Guidance
Selecting a right path after A level can be a very tough choice. At HIS we have an excellent team of experts specialising in different countries around the world for college or university application. In the beginning of Year 12, students are highly encouraged to research and direct their interests in program choices and prospective countries. Once students reach their final year in Year 13, they will be able to draw on their exposure to many universities from around the world to make a very important decision – where to go and what to do next?
